Technique Tuesday

Remember, just because you have a skill does not mean you are automatically ready to move on to the next skill! Every skill needs to perfected before moving on to the next. Technique is extremely important in every TexStar program. Not only does it lower the risk of injury, but it also makes more advanced skills easier to learn and more appealing to the eye!

Wednesday

Workout Wednesday
Try to make working out part of your daily routine! You don't have to have a gym membership or spend hours on it. Just set aside a little time each day to do a few exercises. Even if you only start with a couple of minutes, it's still a step in the right direction!

Start with doing 10 sit-ups and 10 push ups every day and once that is easy add 5 more each day!

Try to do one small act of kindness every day. It's important to learn new skills and increase your strength and flexibility, but the most important quality you can have is to be kind.

Try to stretch today while focusing on technique!
Are your toes pointed?
When you're in a straddle, are your knees rolled back?

In a pike, are your legs completely together and straight?

In your splits, make sure you have one hand on each side and your front leg is straight with pointed toes!

Technique is extremely important in stretching to make sure you are making your flexibility better and not worse!

Here are a few ideas of thoughtful things you can do for others while at home!

-Ask your parents what you can do to help them

-Write a letter to a family member

-Write a few letters to send to a nursing home

-Thank your parents for all they do for you

-Make a gift for a nurse in your life

-Make a card to send to your teacher

-Do your chores without being asked

-Make a video to send to your friends

Try to do a few acts of kindness every week!

Try working on your basic skills with perfect technique! Start with bunny hops and show someone in your family to see what you can fix. Then work front roll, with knees and fees together standing up without your hands. Cartwheel with straight legs pointed toes. Back roll with knees together and pushing off both hands. Work through your basics focusing on technique and have someone help you make corrections!

Leave Kindness Rocks around the neighborhood.

The Kindness Rocks Project is a pay-it-forward service created by life coach Megan Murphy. It encourages people to create inspirational rocks and leave them for others to find. Check out the website for ideas and supplies for painting and writing on rocks. Even if people might not be touching the rocks they pass by during walks, you’re still able to spread happiness through something as simple as a stone with a kind message on it.
